Patti, Sicily

Patti is a municipality in the Province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, with 13,421 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Patti is located 76 km west of Messina. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture (citrus, olives and cereals) and in tourism.

The Patti -S station. Piero Patti is located on the railway line Messina - Palermo, the journey time is between 52 minutes and 1 hour and 20 minutes depending on the train. Patti has a freeway connection to the A20 / E90.

The neighboring municipalities are Gioiosa Marea, Librizzi, Montagnareale, Montalbano Elicona, Oliveri and San Piero Patti.

History

The double diocese Lipari - Patti was founded in 1131, but only 1166 final of Alexander III. recognized.
