Paul, 6th duc de Noailles

Paul de Noailles, duc de Noailles 6 (* January 4, 1802, † May 30, 1885 in Paris) was a French statesman and historian.

Biography

Paul inherited the title and peerage in 1824 his great-uncle Louis -François- Paul de Noailles ( 1739-1824 ), entered 1827 in the Chamber of Peers, and was one of the legitimist. Also, as a historian he made himself known. He was in 1849 elected to the square of Chateaubriand, his friend and confidant he was and also suggested him a member of the Academy.

He wrote a "Histoire de Madame de Maintenon " (Paris 1848-58, 4 volumes) and "Histoire de la maison St- Cyr " (2nd edition 1856).
