Paul Annacone

Paul Annacone ( born March 20, 1963 in Southampton, New York ) is a former American professional tennis player.

Career

Paul Annacone won three tournaments in singles and 14 doubles title. His biggest success was the Australian Open victory in 1985 in a double with the South African Christo Van Rensburg. He qualified three times with Van Rensburg for the double Masters Final. When Masters Final 1985, which took place in January 1986, they failed with 4:6 and 3:6 to Stefan Edberg and Anders Järryd. When Masters Final 1987, which took place in December 1987, they failed after beating Peter Doohan and Laurie Warder and Gary Donnelly and Peter Fleming and defeats Stefan Edberg and Anders Järryd and Miloslav Mečíř and Tomáš Šmíd. When Masters Final 1989, which took place in December 1989, they divorced after four defeats in the group stage.

Annacone played only once for the U.S. Davis Cup team. In the semifinals of the World Group in 1986 against Australia in Brisbane he lost alongside Ken flat against Pat Cash and John Fitzgerald in five sets.

Best known Annacone was a long-time coach of Pete Sampras with whom he worked from 1995 to 2001 and again in July 2002 and was able to celebrate many successes. In 2004 he was for a short time, the coach of Tim Henman. In April 2008 he took over the office of the Davis Cup team bosses from Great Britain, from which he resigned in May 2010. From August 2010 to October 2013, he coached the Swiss Roger Federer.
