Paul Ausserleitner

Paul Ausserleitner ( born February 3, 1925 in Bischofshofen, † 9 January 1952 ) was an Austrian ski jumper. He is considered one of the pioneers of ski jumping in Austria after the Second World War.

1942 won Ausserleitner the German youth championship in ski jumping. After the Second World War, he was part of the Austrian national team. In 1948, he was national champion in Radstadt Salzburg before 1949 ASKO federal champion in Innsbruck. In the same year he also won the Austrian State Champion in Villach.

In addition to his sports activities, he sat down in his home town of Bischofshofen sustainably as organizer and supervisor for the revival of ski jumping one.

Ausserleitner injured on January 5, 1952 Training for the Epiphany jumping so hard that he died four days later at the consequences of the fall. He was in honor of the High King hill in Bischofshofen, on which every year takes place the final of the Four Hills Tournament, renamed Paul- Ausserleitner hill.
