Paul Bearer

William Alvin "Bill" Moody ( born April 10, 1954 in Mobile, Alabama; † March 5, 2013 ibid ) was primarily known in wrestling under the name Paul Bearer as manager of the Undertaker. The name Paul Bearer is a corruption of the English word pallbearer, which denotes a pallbearer at funerals.

Prior to his career in wrestling Moody worked in a funeral parlor. This fact should be taken up in the later career in the wrestling business.

William A. Moody was married and has two sons. His wife died on 31 January 2009. With his youngest son, he lived in a common household in Mobile.

Career

Beginnings in the National Wrestling Alliance and Independent scene

After graduating from high school, Moody served four years with the United States Air Force.

Moody debuted in June 1974 Central States Wrestling, an affiliate of the National Wrestling Alliance, as "Mr. X ". He then joined by other names on in independent promotions. Soon, Moody noticed that his true qualities in the ring were less than active wrestler, but outside of the ring. After three years, he ended his career wrestler and entered on April 10, 1978, for the first time as a manager. Moody came mostly on as Percy Pringle III. This name was also used later by him.

In 1979 he returned to the wrestling business back.

However, he returned in 1984 back as Percy Pringle III. Moody occurred (eg, Championship Wrestling From Florida, World Class Championship Wrestling and United States Wrestling Association ) in some leagues. Moody stepped on, among other things as a manager of Rick Rude, Lex Luger and dingo.

World Wrestling Federation and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling NWA

On 22 December 1990 Moody came in the then World Wrestling Federation. Here the gimmick Paul Bearer was created. He appeared primarily as a manager of Kane, Vader, Mankind, The Undertaker.

On 14 October 2002, Moody left the WWF and was struggling with health problems, during which he came to nearly 240 kg body weight. In the meantime, he stepped quickly to NWA Total Nonstop Action.

World Wrestling Entertainment and re- integration into the independent scene

On 3 October 2003 Moody returned to a gastric bypass surgery as a manager for some feuds for WWE. On June 27, 2004 at the Great American Bash Moody was written again by storyline from the WWE program. Then Moody worked as a consultant for the WWE.

He also served from 2005 until its closure in 2007, owner and president of Gulf South Wrestling. He was also a funeral director in Mobile.

During the recording of WWE Friday Night SmackDown! September 21, 2010 ( U.S. broadcast: September 24 ) joined Moody after more than six years back on at a WWE show. He was briefly involved in feud between Kane and The Undertaker programs. At first he was on the side of the Undertaker, in the course of the feud, he moved over to Kane. He then became involved in the feud with Kane against Edge, before he left the WWE again.

Since the beginning of 2011, Moody joined again as a manager Percy Pringle III. He was the companion ring by Shaun Rickers at NWA Hollywood.

In May 2011 it was announced that he has signed a legend, five-year contract with WWE. Thus, Moody was allowed to perform in his gimmick even at shows and leagues that were not broadcast on TV or not belonging to the WWE Universe.

On March 5, 2013 William A. Moody died at the age of 58 years due to a failure of a heart attack.
