Paul Boghossian

Paul Boghossian is an American philosopher.

Life

Paul Boghossian family is of Armenian descent. He studied physics at Trent University in Peterborough (Ontario), where in 1978 the B.Sc. made, and in 1987 received his doctorate in Paul Benacerraf at Princeton University in philosophy. He was since 1984-1992 Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan in 1991 and a visiting lecturer at Princeton.

He has received research grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, of Magdalen College, Oxford, the University of London and the Australian National University. He is a Fellow of the New York Institute for the Humanities. Boghossian has taught since 1991 at the New York University philosophy since 1995 as a professor. His research interests include epistemology, philosophy of knowledge and philosophy of language. He was the dean of the department for ten years from 1994 to 2004. Since 2006, he has the " Julius Silver Chair " hold. He is also a director of the New York Institute of Philosophy. In 2012 he was awarded the Office of the Provost at the University.

Boghossian is co-editor of the journals Philosophical Studies and the Philosophers ' Imprint.

Since 2012 he is member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
