Paul Fredricks

Gerald Paul Fredricks (* July 14, 1918; † July 4, 2010 ) was an American jazz trumpeter of swing and Dixieland.

Fredricks grew up near Philadelphia, where he played as a young trumpet in local bands. At age 16, he went to New York City and began to play professionally. In the early 1940s he played with Alvino Rey in Los Angeles and New York. The band made an appearance at the Paramount Theatre in 1941 in New York attention, one of the nation's most popular bands were soon afterwards with several top 10 hits, and they stepped into Hollywood films such as Sing your worries away in 1942. During the Second world War he volunteered and served in the Pacific. 1946 to 1948 he was in the orchestra of Charlie Spivak as a solo trumpeter. From 1940 to 1948 he was involved in 45 recording sessions. After that he played in the Dixieland jazz with his own band Paul Fredricks Orchestra and later the Crescent City Stompers. He lived in Philadelphia.

Fredricks also played with Les Brown and Mel Tormé ( Mel -Tones ).
