Paul Gaustad

Paul Gaustad ( born February 3, 1982 in Fargo, North Dakota ) is an American professional ice hockey player who plays for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League since February 2012.

Career

Gaustad was selected at the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round as 220. During the play-free summer he lived in Portland, Oregon, where he began his career with the Portland Winter Hawks in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League.

Before he started in 1999 to play for the Winter Hawks, he was active in Burnaby Express, a junior team in Burnaby, British Columbia, the British Columbia Hockey League. In three seasons for the Winter Hawks, he scored 135 points ( 53 goals, 82 assists). In the 2002/03 season he played with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. In his first year with the Sabres farm team, he was able to achieve 14 goals and prepare a further 39 goals, he was also his first NHL game contest. However, on further use in the NHL, he had to wait two years, during which he continued for the Americans went on the ice. In his NHL rookie season 2005/ 06 he scored nine goals and 15 assists and played in all 18 playoff games the Sabres, where he contributed a further four assists.

In the season 2006/ 07 played Paul Gaustad, whom his teammates call only The Goose, either with Chris Drury and Ales Kotalik in the second row or as a center of the fourth row. In early February, he suffered injuries in a collision with Dany Heatley, who were diagnosed ultimately as a torn ligament, so that the season was 2006/ 07 ended prematurely for him.

In summer 2008, Gaustad extended his contract with the Sabres for another four years.

On 27 February 2012 it transferred the Buffalo Sabres, together with a fourth- round choice right in the NHL Entry Draft in exchange for a 2013 first-round vote in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft to the Nashville Predators.
