Paul Grützner

Paul von Schleich the Elder ( born April 30 1847 in Hard Mountain, Silesia, † July 29, 1919 in Bern ) was a German physiologist.

Life

Griitzner studied medicine in Würzburg, Berlin and Breslau, where he was a student of Rudolf Heidenhain. After completing his doctorate at the University of Breslau, he was an assistant at the Institute of Physiology there.

In 1881 he became a professor at the University of Bern. In 1884 he followed Karl Vierordt on the Department of Physiology at the University of Tübingen. 1900/ 01 he was rector of this university. 1901 Paul was honored by Griitzner with the Cross of Honor of the Order of the Württemberg Crown, which was connected with the personal titles of nobility.

1874 reported Wilhelm Ebstein and Paul Griitzner pepsinogen in the gastric mucosa after (W. Ebstein, P. In addition Griitzner worked on voice and speech as well as the physiology of nerves and muscles, the secretion of urine, and the circulatory physiology. In the run by Griitzner Institute in Tübingen worked Karl Bürker and Archibald Vivian Hill.

In 1884 he was inducted into the Academy Leopoldina.
