Paul Hodes

Paul Hodes ( born March 21, 1951 in New York City ) is an American politician. From 2007 to 2011 he represented the State of New Hampshire in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Paul Hodes attended to 1972 Dartmouth College in Hanover. Then he studied until 1978 at Boston College Law. Between 1979 and 1982 he was Deputy Attorney General of New Hampshire. He then worked as a private lawyer. In 1992, he worked as a special prosecutor on behalf of the State of New Hampshire. Besides his legal and political activities Hodes is also a well-known entertainer in his home.

Hodes is a member of the Democratic Party. In 2004, he ran unsuccessfully for the first time elected to the Congress. Two years later, he sat down in the second electoral district of New Hampshire to Republican Charles Bass by, whereupon he took his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington on January 3, 2007. After a re-election in 2008 against Jennifer Horn, he held out his mandate until January 3, 2011. Hodes was most recently a member of the Committee on Financial Services and the Committee on the reform of the administration as well as in two sub-committees.

For the congressional elections of 2010, he had announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate, although he clearly lagged in recent polls of Republican Kelly Ayotte behind. On 5 November 2010 Hodes lost the Senate election against Ayotte.

Paul Hodes is married to Peggy Horstmann.
