Paul Hogan

Paul " Hoge " Hogan AM ( born October 8, 1939 in Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, Australia) is an Australian actor and comedian. He gained worldwide popularity with the role of Michael J. "Crocodile " Dundee in Crocodile Dundee movie comedies.

Life

Paul Hogan grew up in Sydney and left school at 15 years. Hogan earned his livelihood with more than 25 different activities: among other things as a driver, a boxer and as a mechanic on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. 1972 Hogan was discovered in the Australian television talent show New Faces from producer John Cornell. In the early 1970s, he became known for the comedy series A Current Affair; later he followed the concept of the series in his own show, The Paul Hogan Show, which he produced, co-wrote and co-wrote in which he represented a large number of different characters themselves. Out of the 60 episodes counting series ran from 1973 to 1984 and was very popular in Australia and in the UK. It was characterized by the dry Australian humor, a trademark Hogans.

In the U.S., Hogan was known for commercials for the Australian Tourist Board, which were broadcast from 1984 to 1990. These commercials are the most successful tourism advertising that has ever been aired in the U.S. and meant that Australia was one of the favorite travel destinations in the U.S. Americans and sparked a tourism boom. During the 1980s, Hogan appeared on British television in a major advertising campaign for the beer brand Foster's Lager, in which he played an Australian in a foreign country ( London). The slogan " strewth, mate, there 's a bloke down there with no strides on!" Followed Hogan for several years and the popular " fish out of water " humor brought him new perspectives.

In Hogan's first film, Crocodile Dundee - A crocodile to kiss, he played a 1986 -reared Aboriginal hunter traveling from the Australian Outback to New York City. The movie was funded by Hogan and a group of investors, which included, among others, his longtime friend and partner John Cornell, the entrepreneur Kerry Packer, and cricketers Greg Chappell, Dennis Lillee and Rodney Marsh.
