Paul J. J. Welfens

Paul JJ Welfens ( * 1957 in Düren ) is a German economist and professor of macroeconomic theory.

Life

Welfens studied economics in Wuppertal, Duisburg and Paris. In 1985 he received his doctorate in 1989 and his habilitation. In the following years he was professor at the universities of Münster and Potsdam. Since 2004 Welfens holds the Chair of Economics with a focus on Macroeconomic Theory and Policy at the University of Wuppertal and Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration. In 2007 he accepted a visiting professorship at the Paris Institut d' études politiques Elite University de Paris (Sciences Po). In the same year he was the first German the silver medal of the International Kondratieff Foundation. Welfens is founder and president of the European Institute for International Economic Relations ( EIIW ) at the University of Wuppertal.
