The Paul- Janes-Stadion in Dusseldorf Flingern is one of the Home Sites of Fortuna Dusseldorf (1930 to 1972 and from spring 2002 to 2005 ). The former association's own but in the meantime Municipal Stadium from 1930 carries since 1990 the name of the long-standing Düsseldorf football national player Paul Janes. Until then, the stadium was called "Fortuna Place " or " Flinger Broich ".

After the Second World War, the British Army took over the stadium. A storm in 1958 destroyed the corrugated iron roof. In 1967, built on the site of the clubhouse Fortuna Dusseldorf.

During the reconstruction of the stadium Rhein 1975, the Paul- Janes-Stadion was Bundesliga venue for five games. It got to a bundesliga suitable floodlights.

Another reconstruction took place in the years 2001/2002, because after the demolition of the Rhine, the Fortuna stadium should have an acceptable venue. It ranks as well as a new general admission grandstand seating on the backstretch were created. The renovation, which the city Dusseldorf funded, cost 5 million euros. After completion of the Fortuna Dusseldorf ESPRIT arena continued to contribute annually up to three home games at the Paul- Janes-Stadion and the remaining games were held in the modern arena. Since the 2007/2008 season, no championship games the first team will be held in the old venue. The Paul- Janes-Stadion is intended solely as a venue for test, Friendship and Cup games as well as for all home games of the second team of Fortuna Dusseldorf and their youth teams.

2006 was the stadium during the World Cup 2006, the venue for the largest " public viewing " event in a non- host city in Germany. In addition to 12,600 seats for the fans in the stadium, there was a promenade around the stadium and an entertainment program especially for children.
