Paul Martin (athlete)

Paul Martin ( born August 11, 1901 in Geneva, † 28 April 1987) was a Swiss track and field athlete, who competed mainly in the 800 - meter track.

Career

Martin went to Switzerland for five Olympic Games. In Antwerp in 1920, he left in the flow. Four years later at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 won Martin in his lead. In the intermediate run, the first three of each run came on and Martin took the first intermediate run to third place. In the final, Martin went in 1:52,6 min to second place behind Douglas Lowe and received the silver medal.

At the Olympic Games in 1928, Martin appeared on two medium-haul routes. After he was eliminated in the 800 meters in the intermediate run behind his French namesake Séra Martin in fourth, he reached over 1500 meters the finals and finished in sixth place 3:58,4 min. Since S. Martin was finished sixth in his final, finished on both medium-range a francophone runner with surname Martin sixth place. Paul Martin also launched in 1932 in Los Angeles and 1936 in Berlin on both medium-range, but different from each in the flow. In 1936, Martin as a writer also in the Olympic art competitions, but could not place itself.

Paul Martin had a competition weight of 63 kg with a body height of 1.75 m. He first started out for Cercle des Sports Lausanne, later for Stade Lausanne.

After receiving his doctorate in 1929, Martin spent two years living in the United States to be trained there for the surgeon. In 1952 he published in Geneva Au Dixième de Seconde. For this book, he was awarded the French sports literature.

Martin put on a total of 18 Swiss national records. While it Willy Schärer 1923 replaced as Landesrekordler over 1500 meters, kept his 800 -meter record, until 1955 Josef Steger was faster.
