Paul McDonald Calvo

Paul McDonald Calvo ( born July 25, 1934 in Hagåtña, Guam ) is an American politician. Between 1979 and 1983 he was Governor of Guam.

Career

Paul Calvo is the father of the 1961 -born Eddie Calvo, the current Governor of Guam. He attended George Washington High School in Guam, the Peacock Military Academy and finally the Santa Clara University in California. Since 1958 he worked in the family-owned insurance agency in Guam. In the 1960s he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. In 1965 he was elected to the Senate of Guam. After two re- election he was able to complete three legislative periods. He then led the Committee on Taxation and Finance. He also initiated the use of Republican faction.

In 1978, Calvo was elected as the successor to Ricardo Bordallo as the new Governor of Guam. A post he held between 1 January 1979 and 1 January 1983. Thereafter its predecessor Bordallo took office again. After the end of his time as Governor Paul Calvo is no longer politically have appeared.
