Paul McGee (footballer born 1954)

Paul McGee ( born June 19, 1954 in Sligo) is an Irish football manager and former football player.

Club career

McGee completed his debut in the League Of Ireland 16- year end of 1970 for the Finn Harps, after four seasons, he moved in 1974 to the Rovers from his hometown. Because of its good performance in the championship of the Rovers in 1977, took him to the season, the English first division side Queens Park Rangers under contract. He came to the rise of Clubs 1978/79 to 39 league operations with a total of seven goals, played after the descent QPRs for one year each in the second division Burnley FC and Preston North End, before returning 30 -year-old in his native Ireland. First, relatively unsuccessful in his hometown club Sligo Rovers, upon moving to Galway United's success came with 30 official matches gates back in a season.

In 1987, McGee a second time abroad, this time in the Netherlands for Ehrendivisionisten HFC Haarlem, for whom he played three more years. After his return to Ireland at the age of 36 years he played a further year for Galway United, in the following season he was in the Finn Harps under contract, had his career but after a car accident after a few uses for the Harps finish.

National

McGee was 10 -fold youth and simple youth international for Ireland, before being appointed in 1978 A selection of his homeland. Overall, he played 15 times between 1978 and 1980 for Ireland, scoring 4 goals.

After the active time

After his playing time McGee worked as a scout for Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers, as well as a football journalist for Irish newspapers. Most recently, he coached the U-21 team Devon Celtic, whom he led to the Irish U-21 Championship, before the coach of the newly formed Irish second division Limerick 37 took over in February 2007, but was released after the end of the 2007 season. Between January and August 2008, he was Cotrainer in Cork City. In 2010 he worked for the Irish television station RTÉ in the coverage of the League of Ireland.
