Paul Michel (chess player)

Paul ( Pablo) Michel ( * December 27 1905 in Alzenau, † September 14, 1977 in La Plata, Argentina ) was a German chess master.

At the German Championships 1935 in Aachen and 1938 in Bad Oeynhausen he came on each of the shared 2nd place.

For his result in the unofficial team tournament chess 1936 Olympics in Munich ( 9.5 points from 12 games), he was awarded the silver medal. After they had made ​​the German team to victory at the 1939 Chess Olympiad in Buenos Aires, he returned and his teammates Erich Eliskases ( 1913-1997 ), Ludwig Engels ( 1905-1967 ), Albert Becker ( 1896-1984 ) and Heinrich Reinhardt ( 1903 -1990 ) not to Europe, but began a new life in South America.

Michel received in 1956 the title of International Master.
