Paul Pilgrim

Paul Pilgrim (Paul Harry Pilgrim, born October 26, 1883 in New York City, New York, † January 8, 1958 in White Plains, New York) was an American track and field athlete and Olympic champion.

At the Olympic Games in 1904 in St. Louis, he was sixth on 800 m and won with the team of the New York Athletic Club in the team run over four miles.

His first hour then struck at the 1906 Summer Olympics in Athens. There he won the gold medal in the 400 -meter run, before the British Wyndham neck shaft ( silver) and the Australian Nigel Barker ( bronze), and the gold medal in the 800 - meter race, ahead of his compatriot James Lightbody ( silver ) and the British Wyndham neck shaft ( bronze).

His third part in the Olympics at the Summer Olympic Games in London in 1908 was a debacle. About 400 meters he resigned as favorite already in the flow. In the following years he did not win any major races more.
