Paul Pîrşan

Paul Pirsan ( born February 28, 1956 in Serbanesti ) is a Romanian agricultural scientists and rector of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Banat in Timisoara.

Biography

Pirsan headed after finishing his studies in 1980 a farm in Recaş, Timiş county. In 1986 he entered the University of Agricultural Sciences of Landwitschaftsinstitut and Veterinary Medicine of Banat in Timisoara as Assistant. In 1992 he became a lecturer, was appointed Lecturer and in 2003 Professor of Agronomy and organic farming in 1996. From 2002-2011 Professor Pirsan was head of four Romanian and project partners in international crop research projects. His election as Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture was 2005. Since 2005 he has been a member of the regional parliament of Timisoara Region Board of Culture. On 28 February 2012 Paul Pirsan was elected rector of the university, his new post he took up on 15 March 2012.
