Paul Raven (musician)

Paul Vincent Raven ( born January 16, 1961 in Wolverhampton, † October 20, 2007 in France ) was a British bass player. He is best known for his work with Killing Joke and Ministry.

Career

Raven began at the Neon Hearts and then played with the band kitsch. After the bass player Martin Youth Glover left the band Killing Joke in 1983 after disputes with the singer Jaz Coleman and his representative Guy Pratt could not prevail, Raven got in at Killing Joke and was present at the making of the album Fire Dances. Raven remained eight years with Killing Joke and was responsible for the bass riff on the court -16 hit Love Like Blood, among others in 1985. Overall, Raven participated in these years to five albums the group, the 1985 album Night Time reached eleventh place the best placement in the UK charts.

After leaving Killing Joke Paul Raven was short with Pigface and then moved to Prong, where he worked on two albums. In the next few years he played with zilch, Society 1 and Godflesh, and worked as a music producer. Ten years after leaving Killing Joke in 2003, he worked on two new albums with the band. He then moved to Chicago and joined there the band Ministry where their last studio production The Last Sucker, he was involved. In 2006 he was the "Best Metal Performance " nomination for his work with Ministry for a Grammy in the category.

2007 Raven worked in Geneva on recordings of the band Treponem Pal. He died on 20 October 2007 of a heart attack.

In 2009 they had the album Holy City Zoo project band Mob Research, was involved in the creation of Raven.
