Paul Schatz

Paul Schatz ( born December 22 1898 in Konstanz, † 7 March 1979 in Arlesheim, Switzerland ) was a anthroposophist, artist, inventor and engineer. Treasure studied mathematics, engineering, philosophy and astronomy in Munich and Hanover. Due to great skepticism of positivist science over he graduated not from.

Life and inventions

After the First World War turned treasure initially studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, later art (training as a wood carver, working as a sculptor ) and especially of anthroposophy. His unconventional combination of art, philosophy and art springs from the discovery of the inversion kinematics of oloid and invertible cube. The Umstülpungsbewegung the platonic solids discovered treasure in 1929, first at the pentagonal dodecahedron. The full Umstülpbarkeit of the cube, which had particularly treasure faces is one of today's revolutionary work, which is recognized in the current teaching comparatively little.

His life's work was to make the found new laws especially for the kinematics used that so far only, thus knew the rotational and translational motion only a movement in the plane. Through the Swiss Patent No. 500,000 the Oloid gained attention in the press. The WDR 1973 produced a television film about the work and ideas of Paul Schatz. An animation of the invertible cube also became known broadcasting WDR logo in the 70s.

In old age, his main work "Rhythm Research and Technology " was released. His estate has accepted the Paul Schatz foundation, based in Basel, Germany and Switzerland.
