Paul Scriptoris

Paul Scriptoris (* 1460 in Weil der Stadt, † October 21, 1505 in Kaysersberg, Alsace ) was a German Franciscan and theologian.

Life

After studying in Paris at Stephan Brûlefer, during which he skotistischen the realism of his teacher joined, Scriptoris Guardian was in the Franciscan convent in Tübingen. There, in the Franciscan mendicant he held since 1494 lectures on mathematics, astronomy, geography and theology. Scriptoris who enjoyed great recognition as a teacher and preacher, was next to Konrad Pelikan to the critical theologian who spoke out against the end of the 15th century open for church reform. He turned against, among others grievances concerning the sacraments, indulgences and the vow. Some of his students, Konrad Pellikan (1478 - 1556), subsequently joined by the Reformation. Under the charge of heresy removed from his posts in 1501 and transferred to Basel, Scriptoris 1502 went to Rome. Appointed in 1505 by the Order line to Toulouse, he died on the way there.
