Paul Strecker

Paul Strecker ( born August 13, 1898 in Mainz, † March 6, 1950 in Berlin) was a German stage designer, painter and writer.

Between 1919 and 1922, studied art Strecker at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and subsequently joined for two years at the Academy of Arts in Berlin. In the summer of 1924 Strecker an extended study trip to Rome undertook to mainly study the ancient masters there.

In the spring of 1926, Strecker had settled in Paris as a freelance painter and the occupation by the Nazis, he fled to southern France. In 1945 Strecker to Germany and settled in Berlin. At the Berlin State Opera, he worked as a stage and took pictures in 1946 a reputation as a lecturer at the University of Fine Arts Berlin; connected to the lectureship was appointed full professor.

Strecker was a member of the Berlin New Group. He died at the age of 51 years in Berlin.

The music publisher Ludwig Strecker was his brother.
