Paul Toungui

Paul Toungui ( born September 7, 1950 in Okondja, province of Haut - Ogooué ) is a politician from Gabon.

Biography

After school he studied mathematics and graduated with a degree in France. In his subsequent career, he rose in 1983 to the Director General of the Institute of Economy and Finance, and held this office until 1990.

His political career began in 1990 when he was elected as a candidate of the former single party Parti Démocratique Gabonais (PDG ) of President Omar Bongo to the deputies of the National Assembly. Shortly thereafter, he was appointed in May 1990 as Minister of Finance and Budget in the cabinet of Prime Minister Casimir Oye- Mba. In a cabinet reshuffle in March 1994 he was Minister of Mines, Energy and oil, and held that post in the Cabinets of Oyé MBAs successors Paulin Obame Nguema and Jean -François Ntoutoume Emane to January 2002.
