The University Paul Verlaine - Metz (French: Université Paul Verlaine - Metz; since 2012 to the University of Lorraine joined together ) is a public university in the French city of Metz, with about 14,500 students and nearly 2,000 academic staff. Rector (French Président ) of the University is Prof. Luc Johann.

The university was founded in December 1970 and is named after the French poet Paul Verlaine, who was born in 1844 in Metz. It goes back to a Natural Sciences (French faculté des sciences ) from the years 1811 to 1816.

Faculties and Institutes

Today, the University of Metz is divided into six faculties (French Unités de formation et de recherche, UFR ) and three institutes of technology (French Institute universitaires de technologie, IUT ):

  • Faculty of Economics: Droit, Economie et administration ( UFR Droit )
