Paul Vidal

Paul Antoine Vidal ( born June 16, 1863 in Toulouse, † April 9, 1931 in Paris) was a French composer and music educator.

Vidal studied at Toulouse and in 1878 at the Paris Conservatoire with Jules Massenet and César Franck. He won the Prix de Rome in 1883 and taught from 1884 at the Conservatoire. He was also conductor at the Paris Opera and the Opéra -Comique. Among his pupils was, inter alia, Jacques Ibert and Enrique Mario Casella. His most important work is the ballet Maladetta, which was created in 1893. He also composed the operas of Eros ( 1892), Guernica ( 1895) and La Burgonde (1898), piano pieces and choral works and music education published works.
