Paul Wylie

Paul Stanton Wylie ( born October 28, 1964 in Dallas, Texas ) is an American former figure skater.

Biography

Wylie began at the age of three years with the figure skating. When he was eleven years old, his family moved to Denver, Colorado, where he trained with Carlo Fassi for nine years. He coached there with John Curry and Robin Cousins ​​together, the students were also Fassis. Cousins ​​even lived in Wylie's family when he was preparing for the 1980 Olympics. This year, Wylie won, meanwhile, with his former figure skating partner Dana Graham the American Junior Championships in pair skating. At the same Junior Championships he also won the silver medal in the men's. Since financial support was lacking, he finished the pair of running. The following year, he won both the U.S. Junior Men Championships and the World Junior Championships for Men. In 1985, he joined the coach, went to Boston and began working as trainer with Evy Scotvold and choreographer Mary Scotvold. In addition, he studied at Harvard University.

Paul Wylie was in the years 1988, 1990 and 1992, second in the U.S. Championships and surprisingly won in 1992 and the silver medal at the Winter Olympics in Albertville. At the World Championships he had never got beyond ninth place and at the national championships before the Olympics, he showed such a poor performance that many questioned his nomination in question.

After these Olympic Winter Games, he turned professional. He joined from 1992 to 1998 at the ice show Stars on Ice, and won the 1993 World Championships in the pros. After 1998, he went to Harvard Business School and worked in the economy. In the meantime, he worked for The Walt Disney Company. After 2004 he returned for 22 performances at Stars on Ice and also worked for An Evening with Champions, the collecting of John Misha Petkevich launched at Harvard University Figure Skating event to raise funds for cancer foundations. Wylie also works as a sports commentator for ESPN and Universal Sports.

On 14 August 1999 married Kate Wylie Presbrey. With her he has three children and lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he also worked for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, founded by Billy Graham, a Christian institution. He currently has his own company, an agency for sports-oriented tourism. He also coached figure skaters in the Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail.
