Paul Yorck von Wartenburg

Hans Ludwig David Paul Yorck von Wartenberg ( born April 1, 1835 in Berlin, † September 12, 1897 at Schloss small oil Oława County, Lower Silesia ) was a German jurist and philosopher, and Heir of the good small oil.

Paul Yorck was the grandson of the royal Prussian Field Marshal Ludwig Graf Yorck von Wartenberg. His mother, Bertha Countess Yorck (1809-1845), was the philosophical, literary and musically well-educated daughter of the Prussian Major-General Johann Georg Emil von shower. Life

After graduating from high school in 1854 at the Mary Magdalene Gymnasium in Breslau he took in 1855 in Bonn, the study of jurisprudence and philosophy. But in the same year he moved to Wroclaw ( Lower Silesia ) to continue his studies. In 1857 he undertook with his father Ludwig his first trip to Italy, to which he, inter alia, to remembered in his Italian diary.

In March 1858, he takes off his exams. After his clerkship in Breslau, he moved with his family in 1861 to Potsdam, where he prepared for the Assessor exam. In 1865, he took over after his father's death, the management of the family estate small oil and the hereditary seat of the family in the Prussian mansion.

In the late 1870s he met them by Breslau in 1871, philosopher Wilhelm Dilthey. From this encounter, a close friendship and scientific debate developed. 1891 Yorck traveled again to Italy.

Scientific Work

The scientific papers were published from his estate, created especially in his last years of life. His scientific work was decisively shaped by the confrontation with Dilthey, in turn, consumed by her. In addition to his employment with the Greek philosophers Yorck developed a hermeneutical philosophy of history as a " psychology of history" and worked out the consciousness positions of epochs. In addition, he underwent the phenomenon of space and spatiality of a psychological analysis. His thinking was especially important for the development of the concept of historicity and had influence on Heidegger and Gadamer.
