Paul Ysebaert

Paul Robert Ysebaert ( born May 15, 1966 in Sarnia, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played from 1988 to 1999 for the New Jersey Devils, Detroit Red Wings, Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League.

Career

As a junior he played for the Petrolia Jets. He enlisted as a scorer to the attention of NHL scouts and was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1984 by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round as the 74th. After the draft, he played for the Bowling Green University in the NCAA. After good performances there, the Devils in 1987 invited him to their AHL farm team to the Utica Devils.

For the 1988/89 season he first came to five appearances in the NHL, but continued to play mostly in Utica, where he was the MVP of the league the Les Cunningham Award. Shortly after the beginning of the season 1990/91 he moved to the Detroit Red Wings. Here he made ​​the breakthrough. Thanks to his accurate shot, he brought it in the coming years to more than 30 goals twice and once won the plus / minus rating in the NHL. In exchange for Aaron Ward, he joined the 1993/94 season with the Winnipeg Jets, but shortly before the end of the season he had to move again. His new team was the Chicago Blackhawks.

Also in Chicago, he did not stay long. After 15 games in the coming season we went to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Here he was one of the veterans. Even when he could no longer connect to the good years in Detroit, he was still an important part of the team and team captain for two years. In his final season in 1998/99 he was also often used in the International Hockey League with the Cleveland Lumberjacks.

For the 1999/2000 season he moved to Switzerland to SC Rapperswil -Jona.
