Paul Zindel

Paul Zindel ( born May 15, 1936 in New York City; † March 27, 2003 ) was an American novelist, playwright and screenwriter.

Paul Zindel grew up with his sister up with his single mother. The father had left the family when Zindel was two years old. Looking for work his mother moved with him to often, so that he could close as a teenager just a few friends and was a loner. After college graduation, he worked as a technical writer for the Allied Chemical after it became clear that he wants to do something for the youth, he was high school teacher of physics and chemistry in New York, he moved to Texas, where he plays wrote for the Nina Vance 's Alley Theatre in Houston. After several successes as a playwright, including The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man - In-The -Moon Marigolds (1971 ), for which he was awarded the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for drama, Zindel wrote his first novel for teenagers, the hugely successful book The Pigman. For great achievements in youth literature, he received the 2002 Margaret A. Edwards Award from the American Library Association.

Paul Zindel died on 27 March 2003 from lung cancer.
