Paula van der Oest

Paula van der Oest (* 1965 in Laag -Soeren, Netherlands) is a Dutch film director and screenwriter.

Life

She attended the Nederlandse Film en Televisie Academie, which she finished with the final short film Zinderend. The film was in 1988 with the Tuschinsky Film Award, at this time, " Cannon City Prijs " called, named the best thesis of the Academy. Van der Oest worked after the end of their studies, first as assistant director and turned in 1994 as part of the series Lolamoviola VPRO-television, the short film Coma, who in 1994 was awarded at the Netherlands Film Festival with the Golden Calf for Best televisiedrama.

Her first film De nieuwe moeder was released in 1996 and received several awards. My biggest ever international success in 2001 Three Furies & a warm brother (OT: Zus & zo ), which received an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film in 2003, but could not prevail against Nowhere in Africa.

Van der Oest was married to Theu Boerman, who took a role in some of their films. The marriage produced a daughter. Van der Oests sister Sandra van der Oest is a film producer.
