Pauli Jørgensen

Etvin Carl Pauli Jørgensen ( born December 4, 1905 in Frederiksberg, † October 30, 1993 ) was a Danish football player and club manager who was as a center forward active nationally and internationally. With 47 appearances for the Danish national team ( 1925-1939 ), he was from 1939 to 1961 over 22 years most-capped player and topped with 44 goals to date in third place in the list of leading scorer.

Football career

Jørgensen started his career at the Danish football club Boldklubben 1908 ( B 1908) in 1916, but moved in 1918 to BK Frem København. He played 283 games 1924-1942 for Boldklubben Frem and was awarded the Association of Danish Champion in 1931, 1933, 1936 and 1941. The Danish Football Cup he got with his team in 1927, 1938 and 1940. During the season 1936/37, led Jørgensen scorers table the first division with 19 goals on.

International Jørgensen played in 47 games for the Danish national team, including 12 as captain. Between 1925 and 1939 he scored 44 goals and was thus until 2011 at position 3 of the record protecting the Danish national team. In addition, Jørgensen played in 75 games for the national team Stævnet Copenhagen.

1942 ended Jørgensen his active career and became a coach of BK Frem København 1943 to 1945. In 1944 he won the Danish championship as a manager for Frem. From 1947 to 1948 he went to Norway as coach of Ski -og Ballklubben Drafn.

Pauli Jørgensen 1971 awarded as the greatest Danish football player for the football during the first 50 years of Dansk Boldspil Union ( DBU). In the 1980s, he was awarded the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest active soccer player in Denmark. Pauli Jørgensen died on 30 October 1993.
