Paulina Porizkova

Paulina Porizkova ( born April 9, 1965 in Prostějov, Czechoslovakia, as Pavlina Porizkova ) is a model and an actress.

Life

The parents of Paulina Porizkova fled after the Soviet invasion in 1968 from Czechoslovakia to Sweden. The children who were brought up in the meantime by her grandmother could follow suit after seven years.

In 1980, Porizkova was hired by the modeling agency Elite Model Management. She appeared on the covers of magazines such as Life, Vogue, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and Playboy. In the 1980s, she was one of the most famous fashion models worldwide. In 1988, she received about six million U.S. dollars for the advertising of the cosmetics company Estée Lauder Inc. She was also of Season 10 to 13 jury member at America's Next Top Model.

Porizkova played in the film Nina's Alibi (1989 ) opposite Tom Selleck one of the main roles for which she was nominated for the 1990 Golden Raspberry Awards. In the film Arizona Dream ( 1993) she played a major role alongside Johnny Depp and Faye Dunaway; it was followed by leading roles in the films Thursday - One Deadly Day (1998, alongside Aaron Eckhart ) and Death never comes alone (2000, alongside Rutger Hauer ). The offer of the lead role in the film GoldenEye beat them out. In 2007, she published the novel A Model Summer. In 2010, Paulina Porizkova got together with fellow model Heidi Klum for the episode 6x17 Chromolume No. 7 of the American television series Desperate Housewives a guest role, playing in the Paulina themselves.

Porizkova is married to the musician Ric Ocasek since 1989 and has two sons. She received the American nationality.
