Pavel Cebanu

Pavel Ciobanu (also Cebanu; born March 26, 1955 in Reni, now Ukraine) is a former Soviet football player, now Moldovan football official. He is considered one of the best ever Moldovan footballer.

Ciobanu spent 1973 to 1985 his entire career at Zimbru Chisinau, although he has at times been courted by major Soviet clubs. He was called by the fans " Zé Maria " because he resembled this Brazilian player in his playing technique and also in the physique.

After his playing career, he went first to a Trainer Academy. Then he worked in the home and in Romania in numerous clubs, including Zimbru, FC amok Chişinău, Speranţa Nisporeni and Olimpia Satu Mare.

In 1996 he started as General Secretary of the Football Association of Moldova, on 1 February 1997, he was president of the association.

In 2003 he was elected " Golden Player" Moldova, the Moldovan most important players of the past 50 years. He graduated from an international match neither the Soviet Union nor for the 1991 newly independent Moldova.
