Pavel Lyubimov

Pavel Grigoryevich Lyubimov (Russian Павел Григорьевич Любимов; born September 7, 1938 in Moscow, † June 23, 2010 ) was a Russian film director and screenwriter.

Life

Lyubimov joined in 1962 at the Faculty of directing at the Russian Film Institute and was in 1964 - from now working for the Maxim Gorki Studio - for Tjotka s fijalkami awarded at the Krakow Film Festival. Lyubimov was known for his picking up on current issues in his 14 films, among them The New (1968) and The Pathfinder (1987 ) - by James Fenimore Cooper - are the best known.

In 2000 he was awarded the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
