History

The Ryazan -Ural Railway (Russian Общество Рязанско - Уральской железной дороги ) Society in the Russian Empire managed most of the trains in 12 governorates. But had these 12 provinces no railway connection with Moscow, therefore the claim came to the government for the construction of a route from Moscow to Pawelez, a place (now urban-type settlement in Ryazan Oblast ) to the recently completed joint of the Ryazan -Ural railway between the line Ryazan - Saratov and Smolensk. In May of 1897, Tsar Nicholas approved the construction of the line. This was then carried out under great time pressure in terms of construction decreased by eight months. However, the track had in Moscow initially not have its own train station.

Today's Paveletskaya Station was built according to the plans of the time only in the years 1898 to 1900. Until then, the trains of the Ryazan -Ural Railway had provisionally legally be handled at the Kursk station.

The station building, which is composed of brick, was built to a design by architect A. Krasovsky and consists of two to three storeys. It was built with a total length of 83.7 m and a total thickness of the foundation walls of 2.5 bricks; the external surface of the walls, in turn, consisted of special bricks.

In addition to the façade of the station by the railroad tracks the offices were set up facilities for the police and the outputs to the platforms. For that time the station was very comfortable, was rationally planned or built and had an innovative for its time heating system. The grand opening of the station took place on 1 September 1900.

In 1987, the station was once again a major overhaul. In this case, the capacity of the station was significantly increased: Today can be handled around 10,000 passengers per hour.
