Paweł Kowalewski

Paweł Kowalewski ( born September 20, 1958 in Warsaw) is a Polish painter, installation artist, educator and entrepreneur.

Life

From 1978 to 1983 he studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts ( Department of Fine Arts ), where he received an award for his thesis under the direction of Stefan Gierowski.

He was the founder of the artist lineup Gruppa - one of the leading art groups in the second half of the 20th century. The work of Kowalewski is versatile, it includes canvas and paper paintings, but also sculptures (small shapes from modeling ) and - in the last period of his public creativity - installations and readymades. All these elements already contained his multi-part and formally developed thesis from 1983 Sztuka osobista czyli prywatna (personal, so private art ).

Since 1984 he is a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw ( Faculty of Industrial Design), where he taught until 1994 painting. Since 1994 he holds courses in the field from advertising.

In 1991 he founded the independent advertising agency Communication Unlimited. In the agency he works for, inter alia, the campaign drinking milk! So you are going great. Communication Unlimited is a member of the Association of Advertising Agencies, the Association of Associations Advertising Council and the International Organization advertising IAA. Since 2009, Kowalewski is Vice President of the World Board of IAA.
