Pawnee County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Pawnee.

Geography

The County is located in north-central Oklahoma, about 50 kilometers, from Kansas and has an area of ​​1541 square kilometers, of which 66 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Osage County, Tulsa County, Creek County, Payne County and Noble County.

History

Pawnee County was formed in 1893 as an original county of Cherokee country. It was named after the Pawnee, a North American Indian tribe. The County ( Oklahoma Land Run ) was settled by white settlers during the fourth official land ownership acquisition of 16 September 1893.
