Pazzi

The Pazzi were an ancient Tuscan noble family, who had come in the 14th century in Florence with banking to wealth.

Andrea de ' Pazzi was the principal of Brunelleschi's chapter house of the Franciscans at the church of Santa Croce, ie Pazzi Chapel today.

The best known, however, the Pazzi are for their part in the Pazzi conspiracy, which had the goal to assassinate Lorenzo de Medici and his brother Giuliano and co-regent I de Medici. As a rival of the ruling Medici they should replace it together with Girolamo Riario, nephew Francesco della Rovere, was Pope Sixtus IV, as de facto regent of Tuscany.

The attack took place on 26 April 1478, however, he remembered only I. Giuliano de 'Medici to the victim. Despite the failure of the Pazzi conspiracy, the family was later rehabilitated and allowed to return to Florence.
