PBC Lokomotiv-Kuban

PBK locomotive Kuban Krasnodar (Russian ПБК " Локомотив - Кубань " ) is a Russian professional basketball club based in Krasnodar, Russia. The club plays in the VTB United League and the ULEB Euro League (2013 /14).

History

The club was founded in 1946 as a locomotive Mineralnye Vody from students at a railway school. Only in 1994 the locomotive was added to the highest Russian league. The debut on the European stage took place in the 1998/99 season by participating in the Korac Cup. As a first national title won Lokomtovie in 2000 the Russian Club Cup. It was followed by two third places in the national championship in 2000/ 01 and 2001/ 02. Likewise, in 2002 succeeded locomotive finals in Korac Cup, where the team had to give SLUC Nancy defeat. For economic reasons, the move to the larger city of Rostov -on-Don was decided for the season 2003/2004. During the time in Rostov locomotive ever reached the play-offs of the Russian Championship and was a regular participant in the European Cup competitions since the 2005/ 06 season. This one reached the finals of the FIBA EuroCup Challenge, which was however lost to CSU Ploiesti Asesoft 2005.

In summer 2009, Russian Railways, the move of the club was the Hauptsporsor of the club, decided to Krasnodar. The main reason for the move was the lack of a hall, which corresponded to the European tournament standards. In this case, the name was changed in locomotive - Kuban. In 2011, the nearest international success was achieved by reaching the final of the Euro Challenge, which, however, was lost again, this time against KK Krka in Slovenia. In the next season locomotive repeated with the third place, the best national placement and launched for the first time in ULEB Eurocup, where they reached the quarter-finals on away. In the 2012/13 season the club achieved the greatest success of the club's history. With the win in the finals of ULEB Eurocup against Bilbao Basket with 75:64, the second most important locomotive won the European Cup in basketball.
