PCMan File Manager

PCMan File Manager ( PCManFM ) is a file manager, which is designed as a lightweight and fast replacement for eg Nautilus or Konqueror. It follows the objective to be a useful file manager, but no longer, and follows the Freedesktop.org standards. It is developed in C, for the user interface GTK 2 will be used. The program is part of the starters from the same author working environment LXDE in which it is also responsible for certain elements of the work area as the virtual trash can. PCManFM still part of the package inventory of Linux distributions Debian - based and, for example, in Lubuntu default file manager.

Features

Its features include preview images for pictures, desktop icons, tabbed browsing, experimental inotify support and support for the GNOME Virtual File System ( gvfs ) many features that are rare not only for a continuous tape as slim program. In addition to the column view "Places" PCManFM provides a tree view of the directory structure ( "tree view" ).

History

PCManFM was released in 2006 as the first component of the desktop environment LXDE. 2010 PCManFM was for the upcoming 1.0 release from the ground up rewritten ( PCManFM2 versions ≥ 0.9). These versions include support for the Gnome Virtual File System.
