Fā ʾ, فاء, is the 20th letter of the Arabic alphabet. It was derived from the Phoenician Pe and thus related to the Latin P, the Greek and the Hebrew Pi Pe. He is assigned the value 80.
Phonetic value and inscription
The Fa corresponds to the German F " Friedrich". It is therefore reproduced in the DMG romanization with "f".
Graphical modifications
Sometimes a Fa with three shall be in Arabic dictionaries, atlases, etc. to be found instead of a point. This letter, called Ve, serves to the correct pronunciation of "v" - sure or " w" sound in foreign names, which does not occur in Scripture Arabic.
