Pea coat

Caban (French raincoat, jacket ) denotes a traditionally common in the navy and marine fisheries cardigan.

In Germany, the jacket end of the 19th century was made by the Kiel Tailoring Berger & Colani for the Imperial Navy, and therefore also known as Colani, Collani or Kulani. Another ( less common ) name for the German version is dandy. In the U.S. Navy Pea coat jacket means. By the end of the Second World War, the name Kulani for this long jacket in shorn wool with the German Navy was most common. After the rearmament this sailor jacket was introduced on the German Federal Navy and the People's Navy of the GDR as winter clothing again. In the West, the term Colani or Collani naturalized over time, while still officially spoken in the NVA from Kulani.
