Auffenberg Monitor Lizard ( Varanus auffenbergi )

Little is known about the members of the family of monitor lizards Auffenberg Waran. ( Varanus auffenbergi ) was described in 1999 by newly SPRACKLAND as a separate species. The Auffenberg monitor lizard was formerly regarded as a subspecies Varanus timorensis roti, whose name refers to the island of Roti, the origin of this kind. After Böhme specific differences between the species V. timorensis have yet to be identified.

Description

The head -body length of the species is, according to sources, 205 to 216 mm. The total length of V. auffenbergi is approximately 60 cm, with an adult male animal, the females remain slightly smaller in general.

The top of Animals shows a dark gray, which is covered with irregularly distributed ocelli. In these ocelli, a spot is usually varies between blue and gray, between the ocelli, the animals are bright red to light brown speckled.

Dissemination

The Varanus auffenbergi is endemic only on the Indonesian island of Roti.
