The Pearl Musical Instrument Company, Pearl short, is a worldwide leading manufacturer of percussion instruments and flutes. History
The Japanese Katsumi Yanagisawa started Pearl on April 2, 1946 in Sumida, Tokyo. Initially, music stands were made until 1950, he moved to the manufacture of drums.
First, body percussion for over 30 different manufacturers were manufactured. Only in the 1960s started to be set such supplies and to produce instruments under his own name and logo.
From the 1960s, Pearl drums were offered in Germany. First, the drums of the leading manufacturers were optically reconstructed. So Pearl used a system modeled on Rogers tom holder system. From about the mid- 1970s designed their own Pearl tom mounting system, which was based on some of the Sonor. And there were used two single smooth tubes that were mounted in pairs on a Doppeltomrosette on the bass drum.
Production
Pearl makes its instruments forth only in their own factories. Therefore, the company has manufacturing facilities in China and Taiwan for drums. Flutes are made in Taiwan and Japan, while the accompanying instruments for Latin - American music in Thailand are made.
