History

The Japanese Katsumi Yanagisawa started Pearl on April 2, 1946 in Sumida, Tokyo. Initially, music stands were made until 1950, he moved to the manufacture of drums.

First, body percussion for over 30 different manufacturers were manufactured. Only in the 1960s started to be set such supplies and to produce instruments under his own name and logo.

From the 1960s, Pearl drums were offered in Germany. First, the drums of the leading manufacturers were optically reconstructed. So Pearl used a system modeled on Rogers tom holder system. From about the mid- 1970s designed their own Pearl tom mounting system, which was based on some of the Sonor. Production
