Pebble Island

Pebble Iceland (Spanish: Isla Borbón ) is 88 km ² one of the larger Falklands. The island is located north of West Falkland and has been used since 1846 by British settlers as a sheep pasture. The island has a hotel, an airport and a golf course. The island is divided into the marshland to the east and the mountainous west. In the Falklands War, the island was occupied by the Argentines, who established a military airfield. British SAS commandos, who were supported by warships, but destroyed the base in a commando raid on the night of 14 to 15 May 1982.
