Peberholm is an artificial island in the Øresund, the strait between Denmark and Sweden. It was formed during the construction of the Öresund bridge from 1995 to 2000 from the excavation of dredging on the seabed. The Danish name Peberholm (literally " Pfefferinselchen " ) is an allusion to the natural island Saltholm ( " Salzinselchen "), which is about 1 km north of Peberholm.

On Peberholm the transition between the Oresund tunnel and the bridge section of the Oresund connection takes place. Since train and car traffic in the tunnel next to one another, on the bridge, however, one above the other, it is necessary to first traffic redirect via a ramp before the viaduct section of the bridge is reached.

Peberholm has a length of about four kilometers in an area of about 1.3 square kilometers. In order not to affect the flow of the Sound excessively, the island has been specially shaped.

As a biological experiment it is - apart from road and rail traffic - forbidden to enter the island. This is only allowed biologists. Also, no direct provision for settlement of animals or plants were taken. There is no grass on the island for example, was sown. One would like to say in this way, what kinds of life to settle on the island. Among other things, the date Felsennelkenanger was discovered there, which is rather rare in Denmark or Sweden. The stock of Zwergseeschwalbenpärchen, in addition to the other small birds such as Whinchat, Redstart and Wheatear, is also one of the largest in the neighboring countries. The field angle spider that otherwise does not occur in Denmark and Sweden, is to be found here.
