Peck Morrison

Peck ( John A. ) Morrison ( born September 11, 1919 in Lancaster (Pennsylvania ), † 25 February 1988) was an American jazz musician.

Peck Morrison was a trained trumpeter, drummer and bass player. He played together with Lucky Thompson in the early 1950s, before he could shoot with Horace Silver, Gigi Gryce and Art Farmer. His participation in the piano -less formation of Gerry Mulligan also took him on two European tours. He was a sought-after accompanist of singers like Carmen McRae and took records with Lou Donaldson, Duke Ellington, Randy Weston and Kai Winding on. He also played with Tiny Bradshaw, King Pleasure, Zoot Sims, Eddie Jefferson, the quintet of JJ Johnson / Kai Winding (1954 ), Duke Ellington (1955 and 1964 ), Johnny Smith, Mal Waldron, Randy Weston, Babs Gonzales, the Newport Rebels ( 1960), Shirley Scott, Red Garland, Charles McPherson and Sy Oliver and the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band (1986).
