Pectinate line

The dentate line (Latin linea = line ',' bar '; dentate =, toothed ', ' jagged '), also known as Linea pectinata or Kryptenlinie, is an anatomical boundary line in the anal canal.

Description

At the dentate line of the anal canal squamous strikes the opposite direction in oral epithelium of the rectum. The boundary between the two tissue types is not straightforward, but coiled, together, toothed ' what the dentate line its name. The tissue above (proximal ) of the dentate line ( in oral direction) is formed during embryogenesis from the endoderm, while the tissue below ( distal) ectodermal origin.

While the proximal to the dentate line lying tissue that on the artery superior rectal and artery rectal media supplied blood via the portal venous system ( portal vein from the vena superior rectal for Vena ) derive, this happens when distal tissue that the artery rectal media and rectal artery is provided inferiorly, via systemic circulation (of the inferior vena rectal the inferior vena cava ). According to metastasize malignant tumors of the rectum or anal canal, which are above the dentate line, preferably in the liver and localized below the dentate line tumors in the lungs.

Also for the lymphatic system, the dentate line is a boundary line. Above the dentate line of the lymph flow through perirectal ( located next to the rectum ), pelvic ( located in the pelvis ) and paravertebral ( located next to the vertebrae ) are lymphatic vessels and below the dentate line over the inguinal ( in the groin area ) and femoral (in the range of leg ) lymphatic vessels.

Located above the dentate rectal mucosa is largely insensitive to pain. The distal squamous epithelium of the anal skin, however, is highly sensitive. For example, it is possible to distinguish between intestinal gas, solid or liquid stool thin.

In the English literature, the dentate line is called the pectinate line.
