Pedicellaria

Pedicellariae are small " grasping organs " of the echinoderms. They consist of mesenchyme, calcareous gripping elements (two in starfish and sea urchins in three ) covered, muscle, nerve and sensory cells and are living epidermis. Pedicellariae serve as a cleaner body and rid the body surface of nursery such as algae, barnacles or small sessile tube worms.
